Subject: My new column + IRS important

I'm not an attorney and cannot give legal advice. Just need to say that off the top to keep myself out of legal hot water. This is not legal advice. I am providing this information because it might be helpful for some folks.

Millions of Americans are hurting financially. They've lost their jobs or home (or both) and the looming IRS deadline tomorrow is likely making many depressed and in a state of panic because they don't have the money owed to the IRS. Ignoring the problem only compounds it later on.

Not many people know about the Form 911. This is a form filed with the IRS to forgive your debt to them. I assisted a family member about ten years ago and was successful in getting the three years in back taxes wiped off the books.

If you are in a tough spot financially or know someone who is, this is the link to the IRS' site for the Form 911 and qualifications:

Just because you file one doesn't mean you will be forgiven the entire or even part of the amount allegedly owed. But, if you don't file on Monday by midnight, well, the thieves will start the clock on penalties and interest. Here is a web site regarding the hardship form which includes phone numbers for what is called a Taxpayer Advocate who can assist you in getting the time line correct for filing your return and a Form 911.

This is another with information from a CPA which you can study and evaluate:

Option 6: HELP from 9 - 1 - 1

"Form 911 is a form to use when there is an EMERGENCY. The official title of Form 911 is Application for Taxpayer Assistance Order. We usually shorten it to "hardship." Should the action being taken by the IRS create a substantial hardship, a Form 911 may be appropriate. When an IRS employee receives a 911, they are required to take action within days. Most always they will cease all collection activity until the problem posed in the Form 911 has been resolved. In the mean time you and your representative have had time to get information organized, forms completed, and other data the IRS Collection Division has requested. Form 911 buys time and helps get the problem solved quicker."

This is my new column; it deals with taxpayer plunder:
