A majority of Americans think Joe Biden will be "one-and-done" in the White House.

The Wall Street Journal poll showed 52% of respondents don't expect Biden to run for re-election in 2024 – because of "his age, feeble favorability ratings and his response to inflation and rising prices," the New York Post reported.

Only 28% said they expect him to win a second term.

Even among Democrats, only 41% expect him to run in 2024 and 32% say he won't.

The Post explained, "The president has not formally announced his intention to run in 2024, when he would be 82 years old at his swearing-in ceremony should he gain a second term, but the report said those close to him suggest he’ll decide after November’s midterm elections."

Katie Smith, 20, a junior at Wisconsin-Superior, told the Journal, "You can run for president at 35. I don’t know why we would need the president to be over 75."

Julie Hersch, a 55-year-old Democrat in Pennsylvania, openly wondered if another Biden candidacy would be the "best step" for the party.

"He’s getting up there."

The GOP holds the polling advantage heading into this year's midterms, the report said. "Asked what party they would vote for if the election were held today, 46 percent opted for Republican candidates, 41 percent say Democrats while 13 percent remain undecided, unsure or refused to answer."

Other numbers:

Some 63% said the nation is going the wrong direction under Biden, half say inflation is the biggest issue facing the country, and 65% say the economy is heading the wrong direction.

And 56% view Biden unfavorably, up two points in just the last few months.

The Post said, "Biden gets low marks for his handling of the economy (59 percent), inflation (63 percent), securing the border (57 percent), and fighting crime (56 percent), but he’s in positive territory on dealing with Russia (50 percent approve) and his handling of the Ukrainian crisis (47 percent)."

The March 2-7 polling of 1,500 Americans had a margin of error of 2.5 percentage points.
