The Family Research Council has launched an online ad that calls out several major corporate players in the entertainment industry for their hypocrisy.

After all, the companies named – Disney, Amazon and Netflix – are happy to do business with China, where Christians disappear into detention camps never to be heard from again, Muslims are put in prison compounds, and authorities harvest organs from political prisoners.

Those activities do not reach the threshold of objectionable for the companies, apparently.

Yet the same companies claim they cannot do business in states like Georgia, because lawmakers there adopted a law protecting the lives of the unborn.

The ad:

The text of the ad, called “It’s All an Act,” follows:

“You can’t believe everything you see on TV… Big entertainment corporations like Disney, Amazon, and Netflix are claiming support for what they call ‘women’s rights.’ They’re threatening boycotts of states like Georgia, Louisiana, Arkansas, Ohio, Missouri, and other states because of pro-life bills passed this year.

“It’s all a show. Many of these same companies do business in places with even stronger pro-life laws — countries like Ireland, Bolivia, Croatia, Egypt, and Jordan. They do business in China… where the government detains Christians, locks up Muslims in prison camps, harvests organs from political prisoners, and kills millions of baby girls through forced abortions.

“But Hollywood big business doesn’t care. It’s a charade… driven by money… not morality. Hollywood corporations have partnered with the Chinese communist government for years in its lucrative market, ignoring their long history of human rights abuses. Yet, big entertainment would have you believe they just can’t do business in pro-life states. So, remember… for big business like Disney, Amazon, and Netflix… it’s all an act.”

The companies may actually be putting themselves in a box. Within the last year, Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, North Dakota, Ohio, and Utah lawmakers all have adopted some sort of new restrictions on abortion.

Most popular have been “heartbeat” bills, which ban abortion after a heartbeat in the unborn child is detected.
