Democrats can’t keep turning a blind eye to the inescapable crime wave happening across the country. Now, even California Governor Gavin Newsom is being forced to reckon with the aftermath of his pro-crime policies after criminals targeted and ransacked a train and left debris and packaging along the Union Pacific Railroad.

What happened on the Union Pacific Railroad in LA is unacceptable & those involved must be prosecuted. Today we started the clean up. @CaltransHQ will support more cleaning efforts & @CHP_HQ will help provide additional security.

Fox News reports:

“What has happened on this stretch of the Union Pacific Railroad is unacceptable,” Newsom told reporters. He said the area looked like a scene from “a Third World country,” according to FOX 11 of Los Angeles.

He claimed the state was committed both to prosecuting the thieves and cleaning up the messes they’ve left behind. He added that preventing further thefts was also part of the plan, FOX 11 reported.

“How do we make sure we don’t have to keep coming back?” Newsom asked. “How do we secure this site? How do we do a better job in making sure that this doesn’t have to continue to happen? This is the supply chain. I know all of us are focused down on the water, it’s so damn beautiful, and everybody’s just focused on containers at the ports, the supply chain.”

Republicans have argued that policies like ending cash bail and other “reforms” are what has led to this spike in crime.

“Criminals know how to exploit California’s policies for their gain,” state Senate Republican Leader Scott Wilk, whose district includes northern Los Angeles County, told The Associated Press.

Across the country, New York Republicans are demanding Gov. Hochul end cashless bail after an uptick in gun violence. Paul DiGiacomo, president of the Detectives Endowment Association, is demanding Gov. Hochul rescind legislation enacted by former Gov. Cuomo which favored criminals after a second police officer was shot in the line of duty.

Per another report by Fox News:

“It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that the start of bail reform till now, there’s a direct correlation to shootings, drug dealing and violent crime in this city,” DiGiacomo said at a press conference at a Staten Island hospital, where the detective shot in a leg was undergoing surgery.

“It’s clearly not working,” DiGiacomo said. “We’ve told the Senate, we’ve told the Assembly to fix the laws on numerous occasions, reaching out to the governor to fix the laws because people are dying at an alarming rate. Children are dying at an alarming rate. And this is not fair to the communities in which we serve.”

Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman, a Republican, says that it seems that criminals have more rights than victims and the liberal policies’ detrimental effects aren’t only hurting the city but neighboring communities as well.

“I believe that the law should be repealed,” Blakeman told Fox News Digital Thursday. “I would say criminals have more rights than victims in the state of New York. It has created a much more dangerous environment in Nassau County, but not just Nassau County, the whole region.”

“I believe the determination whether a defendant is a flight risk or a danger to society should be made by a judge on a case-by-case basis,” he said. “It’s been that way for over 200 years. I don’t know why we’re changing it now. It worked well. I believe it is a violation of the separation of powers for the legislature to take that power away from the judiciary, and I would like to see it back in the hands of the judiciary.”
