Major news out of Washington, DC: Congress is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Wilderness Act with a package of bills that protects nearly a quarter-million acres of new wilderness!
We can’t think of a better way to celebrate 50 years of the Wilderness Act. Please take a minute to thank your members of Congress for protecting America’s wilderness!
This bipartisan suite of public lands bills contains more than 245,000 acres of new wilderness, and new protections for more than 1 million acres of public lands in all, including measures to add or expand units of the National Park System. Newly-designated wilderness areas include Pine Forest and Wovoka in Nevada, New Mexico’s Columbine-Hondo, Colorado’s Hermosa Creek and additions to existing wilderness in Montana and Washington.
The legislation wasn’t all good news, but it got a lot accomplished: we have nearly a quarter-million acres of new wilderness to celebrate!
Show your support and appreciation for protecting wilderness—thank your members of Congress today!
