Horses in Need...500 Hungry Mouth
This is our hay barn.
We have 500 horses to feed.
We need more hay than what you can see in this barn.
The California drought is taking its toll.
Hay prices are expected to go through the roof this year.
It will even be difficult to find hay if the weather doesn't change for the better soon.
We are getting rain this weekend, but it will not pull us out of the drought.
In fact, it may work against us because we expect more rain than the ground can take.
It could hurt the hay fields by flooding them.
China gets most of our hay.
If there is a shortage China will still get most of our hay.
It is important to stock up while there is still hay available.
Please help us prepare for the worst.
Our horses have never missed a meal.
And I pray they never will.
But the fact is donations are down right now.
And the cost of everything is up.
It is difficult to stay in balance.
Please help us with your donation toward hay.
We would like to fill the barn and keep it filled.
Each load of 500 bales - right now - costs about $6000
We expect that cost to rise to possibly $8000 per load.
We feed MORE than 500 bales per week.
That's a lot.
We need your help.
Thank you for your support - it is a blessing!
From my heart to yours,
Jill Starr
