Official!!! U.K. Chancellor of the Exchequer Alistair Darling: "slump will be long and deep!"

Alistair Darling will concede in a speech on Wednesday that the economic downturn is likely to be deeper and longer-lasting than first thought.
While Gordon Brown insisted yesterday that Britain was “better-prepared” than other economies, Treasury officials no longer believe the UK economy will escape lightly.

U.K. Motorists' fury as fuel giants Shell and BP make $6.35 million profit every HOUR!!
BP and Royal Dutch Shell will this week report massive third-quarter profits totalling nearly £9 billion, angering motorists who are still paying high prices at the petrol pumps.
BP, Europe's second-biggest oil company after Shell, is on Tuesday expected to report profits of £4.2 billion for the three months to the end of September - a stunning 130 per cent jump on the same period last year.
Shell is set to report a 48 per cent rise on its third quarter last year to £4.6 billion two days later.
These high fuel costs are preventing any reduction in electricity and gas charges AND spiralling us all into a " Hyper-Inflation" situation. This, ofcourse, the Government
wants, because it - ie " Inflation" is just the same as more and more tax receipts coming in!
Last week, I read, that Government Ministers had demanded that utility companies reduced their prices as the price of oil was coming down so much. But the cost of fuel is blatently remaining high and especially at Supermarkets, who are using it to fund " money off" fuel if you spend a minimum amount of about $100 in food purchases.
And also Supermarkets SHOULD charge the same for their fuel all over the Country, but as it really is, down South usually pay atleast 2 pence more per litre of fuel than they do up North.
And nobody has done anything about this for ages! And Tesco are the worse culprits!
Labour, Tory and SDP Liberal Politicians alike are just dumb, useless Pratts. They haven't a clue how to restore confidence and they are trully proving just how " UNFIT FOR PURPOSE" they really are! GJ (UK)
