Here We Stand

The American public is highly indignant at the indifference of Congress and the President to the issues for which the voters expressed their concerns in the 2004 elections.  Increasingly voters feel their elected representatives in Washington respond more to the inducements of special interests than to the wishes of the voters back home.  Trust in government is at its lowest ever.

Across the United States millions of American patriots are armed, ready and waiting to defeat any illegal and un-Constitutional attempt by Federal agents to impose the Police State on the American people.

Patriots will take their stand in the counties and local communities.  These communities are the mainspring of self-government, where the people can express their will, and participate directly in the process of government.  In many counties organized patriots will work directly with their Sheriff, acting as a "posse comitatus" in support of the Sheriff and his deputies.

Many Americans are unaware of the vital role the office of Sheriff plays in our self-government system.  The Sheriff is not subject to the orders of either the Federal government nor the State government.  He is not bound to obey either authority.  He is under only the authority of his constituents who elected him.  He obeys only the will of the people of his county.

We are all familiar with the way the Sheriff used to raise a posse to go after the bad guys in the old western films.  John Wayne, Gary Cooper and other western stars made their careers as movie Sheriffs.

However few Americans are aware of the antiquity and importance of the office of Sheriff in British history and also in British Common Law.  Its origins are lost in the mists of time, but we know that it was already an important and well-established office in 1066 at the time of the Norman invasion of England.  In England in those earlier times the Sheriff was also the local military leader of the local volunteer militia, with the authority to summon the local male population to arm themselves to suppress uprisings, repel invasions and pursue bandits and outlaws.  His role was to put teeth in local self-government, and this is how he functioned under British Common Law.  Even the king recognized his own limitations under British Common Law.  He might treat individual nobles roughly, but he was careful not to antagonize the citizenry by overriding the protections of British Common Law regarding the rights of the people.  The Magna Carta was an expression of these limitations on royal authority.

The U.S. Constitution does not deal with the function of the Office of Sheriff, because the Constitution is concerned only with the functions of the State governments and their relationship with the Federal government, not with the autonomous local county governments.  Local county governments were expected to be directed by the local citizenry according to tradition.

The independent authority of the Sheriff derives directly from the people of his county, as set out by the last two words of the all-important Tenth Amendment.  It is highly-significant that the purpose of the Tenth Amendment is to limit the authority of the Federal government.

In recent decades the Federal bureaucracies and Federal police, often coordinated with "Regional" agencies set up by Foundations (such as the Rockefeller, Ford and Carnegie foundations) have tried to influence, control and direct local county governments (and the Offices of Sheriff) by grants and facilities.  The intention is to prevent local self-government from functioning independently (and possibly resisting the imposition of the Police State?)

Local patriots should not only organize in support of their Sheriff, but also call out loud and clear to the local citizenry... their friends and neighbors ... to turn out for meetings to discuss the important issues of today neglected by Congress and the President ... to demand coverage of their meetings by local newspapers, local radio and TV stations and civic groups ... to activate a local civic forum.

One of our patriot friends who has been actively recruiting for patriot activities in his community has proposed a recruiting strategy which has been proven to be very effective (and has been successfully employed elsewhere by other patriots).  He asks a prospect if he will surrender his gun(s) if the Federal government orders guns to be taken away from private citizens.  If the prospect replies "Hell, no!" he knows that he has another patriot activist.

RSG still offers sets (2 volumes, total 850 pages) of "The Secret Empire" for $8.00 per set.  The "Introduction" to the Secret Empire series for $1.00.  All S&H included.  Order from RSG, PO Box 3010, North Fort Myers, FL 33918.
