This is TRUE for me...!

I've often wondered... who the hell is 'Snopes' to tell me what is real and unreal, true or untrue?...and WHO pays them $$$$ to be an authority on EVERYTHING...??

I believe many are missing the boat by believing one such on-line address can give ALL the TRUTH.

I believe we each need to do research until we are satisfied with the information we find.

I personally would not use Snopes as a 'back me up' in any debate as it is NOT bottom line, up to the minute, reliable information and there is a lot to be said for ones own intutition.

So lets try not to go brain dead and rely on just one god source to tell us what decisions to make...com-on. I mean...if 'Snopes said it'...that is often not the end of the story.

I received this from a friend, and I have read other comments about the veracity of Snopes articles. I thought you might be interested in reading this, too .....

Snopes -check it out.

I found a few things where Snopes was wrong.

I have suspected some problems with snopes for some time now, but I have only caught them in half-truths. If there is any subjectivity they do an immediate full left rudder.

Truth or fiction.com is the better source for verification, in my opinion.

I have recently discovered that Snopes.com is owned by a left wing liberal and this man is in the tank for Obama. There are many things they have listed on their site as a hoax and yet you can go to YouTube yourself and find the video of Obama actually saying these things. So you see, you cannot and should not trust Snopes.com....ever for anything that remotely resembles truth! I don't even trust them to tell me if email chains are hoaxes anymore.

A few conservative speakers on Myspace mentioned the inaccuracies in Snopes.com a few months ago. I found out for myself that it is true. This website is backing Obama and is covering up for him. They will say anything is a hoax that makes him look bad.

Many people still think Snopes.com is neutral, and they can be trusted as factual. We need to make sure everyone is aware that this is a hoax in itself. Snopes.com is not for true fact checking due to it's political leanings.

Here's what I have found:

Snopes was created in 1995 by Barbara and David Mikkelson, a California couple who met on the alt.folklore.urban newsgroup. The Mikkelsons also founded the San Fernando Valley Folklore Society, and were credited as the owners of the site until 2005. Barbara now works on the site full time, while David, a programmer, works on the site part time.

While I can't prove it, I too am somewhat suspect of their leftward bent given their take (or lack thereof) on several Obama stories. An example is their take on the Obama/Ayers connection as opposed to truthorfiction.com's take on the same subject. Snopes tends to minimize the connection categorizing the rumor as a "Partial Truth" while truthorfiction does not downplay the connection at all, calling it a "Truth", and in fact references a CNN (surprise, surprise) expose of the two, as well as a Wall Street Journal article about their connection. Snopes not only does not reference either source cited above, but instead lists a quote from an Obama spokesman as it's main source (what a spin), leaving one to believe they are mere acquaintances.

Here's another comparison of Snopes vs. Truthorfiction's treatment of the email that has gone out regarding "Obama's 50 lies". Notice that Snopes often adds editorial comments favoring Obama on unproven statements, or even on proven ones where they say he is "taken out of context".

Thanks Anne.  I appreciate all that you do.

Sorry to be such a pest, but I see an article posted today that brings up some interesting conversation and I am hoping that you can update the article with the following comments. I think the real lesson to learn here is that we all need to wake up and realize where information comes from...who can we really trust for our information? Let me also say that I am fed up with both political parties, our corrupt monetary system, the MSM, as well as organized religion. I try my best to give everyone the benefit of the doubt when they speak and share knowledge and I also appreciate being called out on things myself when pure logic ends up getting the better of me!

The article posted today is "The Hoax SNOPES". The author points out how truthorfiction.com should be the real authority on things since it is neutral, unlike snopes.com due to it's leftist ownership. I have visted both of these websites myself in the past and never really thought about who stands behind either of them. We all like to go to sites like this and feel good that we think we are getting the real scoop on a rumor. While the author of today's post seems to like truthorfiction.com so well, I decided to give it the sniffer test. What I found suprised me, much like what probably suprised the author that did the research on snopes.com.  I am not stating that either website is right or wrong, nor am I disputing what the poster is saying. I am just pointing out that information is always "flavored" towards someones perspective. It is so easy to read something and believe it, especially if it fits your religious or political background well.
Take care,

MC

Snopes' Credibility Damaged . . . Says NAU is 'False'

By Daneen G. Peterson, Ph.D.

February 4, 2008

SPP Logo A warning . . . apparently you CANNOT rely on Snopes.  They may be part of the media that is working to suppress the truth or spreading disinformation.  Below you will find refutations of the Snopes' contention that the NAU is 'false'.

Snopes apparently never fact-checked and simply 'parroted' the propaganda and lies taken from government websites or spewed forth by government staff. The Department of Commerce is in charge of executing the SPP-NAU Presidential orders for the entire Executive Branch in conjunction with the State Department and, of course, the Department of Homeland Security.

You will learn that there is a Canadian government document which PROVES Bush, Fox and Martin actually signed an agreement, which is contrary to the government's (spp.gov) claim that the trilateral 'summits' consist merely of 'dialog' and discussion'.

The participants claim that nothing of substance is being done during those meetings and that those who say there IS, are nothing but 'conspiracists'.  Harper, after the 2007 trilateral meeting in Montelbello, Quebec, Canada, insulted We the People's intelligence by saying it consisted of such very boring things as discussing "the color of jelly beans".

You should know that the SPP-NAU agreement is, by definition, a TREATY.  According to Webster's, a treaty is "a formal agreement between two or more nations, relating to peace, alliance, trade, etc."  You will learn that the SPP is a SIGNED agreement that has NOT come before the Senate for the 2/3rds 'yea' vote REQUIRED by our Constitution in order for it to proceed!  The SPP is being implemented by EVERY department in the Executive Branch, in secret and without Congressional oversight as detailed in this article in:  Treason Abounds ~ Gov't Cabal Plots North American Union

Since you cannot copy and paste from a Snopes' webpage (deliberate perhaps??), we have archived the Snopes' NAU page here, just in case it should change after we point out its flaws.  In it you will find the Snopes' comments listed below, which will be proven false.

The FIRST incorrect comment by Snopes is found in the beginning paragraph under 'Origins' where they say that Bush, Fox and Martin "met in Texas to discuss plans for increased cooperation . . . a dialog to increase security and enhance prosperity among the three countries."

Here's the refutation of both Snopes and the spp.gov propaganda website.

The SPP.gov website has tried to counter We the People's opposition to the Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP) by publishing a rebuttal titled:   Myths vs. Facts:  Scroll down and note that first item on the SPP.gov list claims the following two things:

Myth:  The SPP was an agreement signed by Presidents Bush and his Mexican and Canadian counterparts in Waco, TX, on March 23, 2005.

Fact:  The SPP is a dialogue to increase security and enhance prosperity among the three countries.  The SPP is NOT an agreement nor is it a treaty.  In fact, no agreement was EVER signed.

Their 'fact' does not hold up under scrutiny.  It is basically a BALD-FACED LIE!  It is propaganda in its boldest form.   How do I know?   Because, on a Canadian government website, there is a statement made and signed by former Prime Minister Martin which declares that "on March 23, President Bush, President Fox and I SIGNED the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America that establishes the way forward on our continental agenda for security, prosperity and quality of life."

The above quote can be found on page 2 of 5.  It is the last sentence in the sub-section titled Canada in North America in this document signed by PM Paul Martin:

Here is SECOND refutation concerning the Amero, which BTW was proposed as far back in 1999 by the Fraser Institute in Canada which is discussed openly in this CNBC financial news video.

Here's a THIRD refutation by Canadian government official who confirms the NAFTA Superhighway (which is in fact the NASCO SuperCorridor).  In this damning video of the 'Manitoba Throne Speech', given by a Canadian government official in November, 2007, juxtaposes both Harper and Bush's statements made after the August, 2007 Montebello, Quebec, Canada tri-lateral 'summit' to reveal their lies, obfuscations, and deceitful cover-ups.

Note:  When watching Manatoba video, remember that when governments work in concert with corporations and the military-industrial complex without the input, consent or knowledge of the Congress, or We the People, that is FASCISM!

Snopes did get it right when it said:  "there is currently no official governmental plan underway to make all that happen".  That's because it is being done ILLEGALLY, in secret, and unilaterally through executive orders by the president who has tasked the ALL the departments of the executive branch to stealthily and surreptitiously move forward with the SPP-NAU.  Treason Abounds .
