How best to commemorate the fallen

almost 4 decades after Roe v. Wade

It was 39 years ago today that the U.S. Supreme Court made its worst mistake ever.

Even worse than its notorious pro-slavery Dred Scott decision a century before, the high court on Jan. 22, 1973, forced legal abortion on America, directly resulting in 50 million deaths and counting.

Read about the heart wrenching change one director of a Planned Parenthood clinic had when she realized the error of her ways.

But Roe v. Wade is on a collision course with reality. Modern science is on the side of life, since much more is known today about prenatal development than in 1973. Likewise, much more is known about the devastating long-term physical and psychological harm to the mother undergoing an abortion. And with this march of medical knowledge, the humanity of the unborn baby becomes harder and harder to deny.

One day, America will have – for the very first time – a true national discussion about abortion. During the past 39 years the elite media have showcased only lies, spin, shameless press cheerleading, biased polls and carefully crafted political fence-setting ("I'm personally opposed to abortion, but I wouldn't want to impose my personal religious beliefs on others").

One day, the humanity of the unborn child will be widely acknowledged and indisputable. Everybody will know what babies look like when they're in the womb, the stunning development, the heartbeat, the fingernails, the eyebrows, the smiles – as well as the pain they feel when we pull their limbs off with forceps or jab scissors into the back of their skull. One day there will be nationally televised panel discussions of women who have had abortions revealing how it ruined their life and health. And one day, media other than WND will publicize the dozens of peer-reviewed studies that show a significant correlation between abortion and breast cancer.

In the meantime, WND commemorates this day by offering several resources that reveal the reality of abortion in a truly revolutionary way.

unPLANNED

"What I have told people for years, what I've believed and taught and defended, is a lie. What if I'd known the truth and what if I'd told all those women?"

Those are the heart-wrenching words of Abbie Hoffman.

She quit her job in October 2009. That simple act became a national news story because Abby was the director of a Planned Parenthood clinic in Texas who, after participating in her first actual abortion procedure, walked across the road to join the Coalition for Life. "unPLANNED" is a heartstopping personal drama of life-and-death encounters, a courtroom battle, and spiritual transformation that speaks hope and compassion into the political controversy that surrounds this issue. Telling Abby’s story from both sides of the abortion clinic property line, this book is a must-read for anyone who cares about the life versus rights debate and helping women who face crisis pregnancies.

'Nation-changing' video

'180' named for what happens to viewers' stance on abortion

"180", a movie project that in just a matter of a few weeks has sold hundreds of thousands of copies and has been viewed on YouTube in numbers well surpassing a million.

The video, the work of evangelist Ray Comfort, is called "180" to signify the dramatic, immediate reversal in viewpoint by people who are confronted with certain truths about abortion.

The stunning, 33-minute video links Adolf Hitler's regard for Jews and others as non-human with abortion and its tremendous toll on America today.

The Marketing Of Evil

The famous abortion chapter in David Kupelian's culture-war classic "The Marketing of Evil" is titled "Blood Confessions: How Lying Marketers Sold America On Unrestricted Abortion," and has single-handedly converted many people from pro-choice to staunchly pro-life. It is almost impossible to read it and maintain the state of denial that enables people to tolerate abortion.

As Kupelian shows, Americans today have come to tolerate, embrace and even champion many things that would have horrified their parents' generation – from easy divorce and unrestricted abortion-on-demand to extreme body piercing and teaching homosexuality to grade-schoolers. Does that mean today's Americans are inherently more morally confused and depraved than previous generations? Of course not, says Kupelian. But they have fallen victim to some of the most stunningly brilliant and compelling marketing campaigns in modern history.

"Excellent! Simply excellent. If you want to solidify your Christian worldview – or just understand what the culture war is all about – you owe it yourself to read David Kupelian's 'The Marketing of Evil.'" – DONALD E. WILDMON, American Family Association
