Action Alert – Stop Sutton!

On Thursday, February 13, 2003 the United States Senat Judiciary Committee will vote on the confirmation of Jeffrey Sutton, judicial nominee to the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. The Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals is just one step away from the Supreme Court. The National Association of the Deaf (NAD) is opposed to Sutton's nomination.

Who is Sutton?

Sutton, a States' Rights ideologue, has aggressively fought against the ADA, Olmstead and many other civil rights protections that protect Americans with disabilities.

The NAD is not opposing Sutton because he happened to represent clients we disagree with. We are opposing Sutton because of his outspoken activism against Federal civil rights protections for people with disabilities and otherminorities has left him unfit to be an impartial judge. His commitment is to ideology not to justice.

For more information about the NAD views on Sutton and what would happen if the ADA was thrown out as Suttonwishes, visit the NAD Eye on Washington (EOW) at: http://www.nad.org/openhouse/action/updates/eow.html
