Blankley: Reinstate draft for Pakistan invasion
By David Edwards
Tony Blankley joined Foxs Gretchen Carlson and Steve Doocy to talk about his new book, American Grit.
Partial transcript
CARLSON: Tony, your book is going to get a lot of attention. There are controversial, bold suggestions. The first one obviously that caught my eye is that you are calling for a universal draft, which would mean that all 18-year-olds in America would have to serve for two years.
BLANKLEY: Yes. Look, I dont like it. I love the volunteer army. I have got a son who who is a Second Lieutenant in the volunteer army. I know young men and women who serve are the greatest young kids we have ever produced but we dont have enough troops and its manifest that we dont by several magitudes. For instance, when George Bush wanted to have the surge, he was old by the senior generals we didnt have the extra 20,000 troops to finish the war. Now, he decided to go against their advice but the advice of the top generals is we didnt have the 20,000. Now, Obama wants to go in Afghanistan. May be a good thing but he says we dont have the troops unless we pull them out of Iraq. What happens if Pakistan goes jihady? We cant go in there and stop them from taking over the nuclear weapons.
