Hi All:

I just got done listening to a radio talk show host who is considered one of the most outspoken anti-Iraq war talk show host in the country.  Unfortunately, when it comes to the Israeli/Palestinian conflict he cowers away from any criticism of Israel's role in this conflict.

This morning he asked his listeners, “What can be done to bring peace to Israel and Palestine?  I have to say, I am puzzled that someone such as himself, who calls himself a liberal and claims to truly want peace in the Middle East, hasn’t brought onto his show the amazing and courageous voices of the Refusniks, the young Israelis soldiers who are refusing to serve because of their government’s brutal subjugation of the Palestinian people.  And one of the most well known of these Refusniks, is the nephew of Ex-PM Benjamin Netanyahu.  This nephew who is in direct opposition of his uncle on this issue, is calling for a cease-fire and peace negotiations and denouncing the most recent assault and invasion into Gaza.

This is “news” folks! Can you imagine if one of Bush’s nephews had taken such a controversial and courageous stance on the Iraq War? These important voices of the Refusniks are being censored by one of the most insidious, corporately and ideologically controlled media networks in the world.  Americans are not hearing the other side of this conflict.  They are not hearing the sane and courageous voices of these young Israeli soldiers, who have been on the ground and have seen with their own eyes the brutal occupation of the Palestinian people.  Desmond Tutu has said that the Palestinians have one of the most desperate, hopeless and deprived situations of any people.  So why are these voices being denied air time?  I and many Americans know the answer!  Eisenhower had it right, when he had warned his fellow Americans,  “to be wary of the Military Industrial Complex”.

I am asking all Americans who care about peace, truth and justice to make sure these voices are heard and even if it has to be from one person sharing it with another.  This myth that Arabs and Muslims are just a crazy bunch of violent and war loving people must stop.  And the indiscriminate bombing of civilian populations and the killing over 30 Palestinian children is a crime and it will not stop the violence between the two nations.

Peace,

Rose

Israeli Lawmaker and Conscientious Objector Nephew of Ex-PM Benjamin Netanyahu Denounce Israeli Attack on Gaza Strip

Israelisoldierweb

Israel has rejected a French proposal for an immediate emergency forty-eight-hour ceasefire to allow humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip. As Israeli air and sea attacks against the Strip continued into its fifth day, basic food supplies in Gaza are running low, and hospitals are struggling to cope with the rising casualties.

We speak to two Israelis opposed to the assault: Dov Khenin, a Knesset member with the Jewish-Arab party Hadash; and Jonathan Benartzi, an Israeli conscientious objector who spent more than a year in prison for refusing to serve.  He also happens to be the nephew of Benjamin Netanyahu, a leading proponent of attacking Gaza and a favorite to win the upcoming Israeli elections.
