We Finally Know Why Trump Ordered a Drone Strike On Iranian General Soleimani

Several months ago Trump ordered a drone strike on Iranian General Qasem Soleimani and for a while, many were unsure as to why this official was taken out by the Trump administration. Thanks to new reports from US intelligence we now know why the General was targeted by the Trump administration.

According to the Daily Caller:

Iran reportedly paid bounties to a Taliban-backed Haqqani terrorist network for at least six attacks carried out against U.S. forces in Afghanistan.

U.S. intelligence identified the link between Iran and Haqqani following the December 2019 suicide attack at Bagram Air Force Base in Afghanistan, which killed two civilians and injured dozens more, CNN reported Monday morning. Two Trump administration officials said, according to CNN, that the bounties led to President Donald Trump’s decision to kill former Quds Force General Qasem Soleimani by a drone strike in January. Trump cited Soleimani and Iran allegedly planning further attacks against U.S. forces in the region as a justification for killing him.

Tensions are still high between the US and Iran but things have settled down significantly since Soleimani’s death. It is unclear as to where things will go from here, but the international community’s faith in Iran is waning as more and more information comes forward.
