POLL: Should Trump Close the Border to Stop the Caravan? [VOTE]
Who will be replacing Kirstjen Nielsen as acting secretary of Homeland Security? Trump has announced his plan to remove her and find someone else who fits the role a lot better. President Trump is citing her poor performance on immigration as his prime reason for removing her.
With all this, we have to ask, who it is that will take over the Department of Homeland Security? Here are the candidates that are being looked at:

1.) Martha McSally

Martha McSally lost her election in Arizona, but there may be hope for her yet as a new role in the Trump administration has just opened up. McSally has a fantastic record on immigration and har long time career in the Air Force would prove to be major assets to the Trump White House. The only hick-up here is that she might not be willing to take the job, most find themselves exhausted after an election and want a break, but Trump is looking for someone now. Not to mention the role of Attorney General is up for grabs, that’s two empty seats with a priority on the DHS due to the coming Migrant Caravan.

2.) Kevin McAleenan

2.) Kevin McAleenan

McAleenan is currently serving as the commissioner of US Customs and Border Protection, he would definitely make up for Nielsen’s inaction on immigration matters at the Department of Homeland Security. This biggest issue with his selection would be that he is currently serving in a role and the process of changing is undoubtably going to be resisted by the Democrats, this would leave a whopping three seats open in the Administration and that is not going to end well.

3.) David P. Pekoske
Transportation Security Administration via Wikipedia Commons
Pekoske is a retired Coast Guard Vice Admiral that became Trump’s Transport Security Administrator. Much like McAleenan, Pekoske is a great pick due to his current role and much like McSally, he is a great pick because of his military service. These things in tandem make him a great pick for the role, his current role is relatively minor and would not be world ending if it was left open for a while. This man is a great pick to lead for the Department of Homeland Security.

4.) Ivanka Trump
Ivanka is often floated as a possible role filler every time a seat opens up, but this one might be in her scope for real this time… especially as a temporary appointee. This would allow her to help President Trump during the caravan dispute but allow for a more long-term appointee to be selected for the long run. Do you think she would be good for this position?

5.) Kris Kobach

Kris Kobach recently lost his bid to become the Governor of Kansas, but Trump might just have a job for him. Trump has been giving Kobach glowing remarks for his policies and successes for a very long time, this might be eye opening for those who don’t see Kobach as having a chance of winning the office. Kobach has been popular for a long time due to his though stance on illegal immigration, this makes him the right man for the job as the migrant caravan comes closer and closer.

6.) Jared Kushner

Longtime businessman and associate of Trump, Jared Kushner might just be the right man for this job. He, like his wife Ivanka, might be best suited as a temporary replacement for this role. The job needs to be filled now because of the oncoming migrant caravan, a hiccup in Jared holding the role can be mitigated if he is only temporarily given the role at the Department of Homeland Security.
