President Donald Trump said Friday that he now knows why Washington is gridlocked: "archaic rules."

"It's a very rough system," the president told Martha MacCallum of Fox News. "It's an archaic system.

"You look at the rules of the Senate, even the rules of the House. It's really a bad thing for the country. Archaic rules.

"You can't go through a process like this. It's not fair. It forces you to make bad decisions.

"You're forced into doing things that you would normally not do except for these archaic rules."

He cited the filibuster, which Senate Democrats used this month to stall the confirmation of Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch.

Majority Leader Mitch McConnell responded by invoking the "nuclear option," which allowed the federal appeals court judge to be approved by a simple majority vote.

"I think the filibuster concept is not a good concept to start out with," Trump told MacCallum.

"If you're going to filibuster, let somebody stand up for 20 hours and talk and do what they have to do, even if they are reading comic books to everybody, let them do it.http://www.newsmax.com/Politics/trump-rips-archaic-rules-washington-dc/2017/04/28/id/787142/
