Bernie Sanders

The 2020 Presidential election is underway.

Democrats are already announcing their intentions to challenge President Trump.

But one of the Democrats top candidates career may be over because of this bombshell sex scandal.

Bernie Sanders captured the imagination of the Democrats far-left voter base in 2016.

The self-described Democrat socialist allowed rank-and-file leftists to shed their mask of moderation and announce that the Democrats were really a party of socialism.

Sanders mounted such a strong challenge to Hillary Clinton that leaked emails showed the Democrat National Committee had to step in to rig the primary against him.

So when Clinton lost to Trump that November, pundits immediately placed Sanders name at the top of the list of candidates to win the 2020 Democrat Party nomination.

However, Sanders campaign is already in jeopardy.

Nearly 30 former Sanders campaign workers signed a letter describing a “dangerous dynamic” surrounding “sexual violence” during his 2016 campaign.

“In recent weeks there has been an ongoing conversation on social media, in texts, and in person, about the untenable and dangerous dynamic that developed during our campaign,” the letter read.

They demanded a meeting with Sanders and his chief advisors to air their concerns about this situation repeating itself in an expected 2020 Presidential campaign.

“We request that Jeff Weaver, Caryn Compton, Ari Rabin-Havt, Arianna Jones, Shannon Jackson, and any other relevant staff who may have input in the creation of a ‘gold-standard’ harassment policy, be present to make sure that our discussion is collaborative and results in tangible next steps we can be proud to stand in support of,” the letter signers wrote.

The letter comes at a dangerous time for Sanders’ Presidential aspirations.

In 2016, Hillary Clinton scared off many Democrats who held Presidential ambitions.

They figured that with her fundraising network and status as the prospective first female President, she was a lock for the nomination.

This allowed Sanders plenty of open field to run since he was the only other left-wing candidate in the primary.

However, Sanders will not be afforded that luxury in 2020 with several Democrats planning to run for the party’s nomination.

In fact, one of the biggest stories in the Democrats’ Presidential field right now is Sanders’ backers attacking the progressive credentials of Texas Congressman Robert Francis O’Rourke.

O’Rourke – who goes by the name “Beto” to trick voters into thinking he is Hispanic – raised an unheard of $80 million in his failed Texas Senate campaign.

Sanders supporters know O’Rourke threatens to eat into the small donor base that powered his insurgent campaign in 2016.

Bernie Sanders is also a straight white male in a party that is dominated by women and minorities.

Both groups will field multiple candidates in 2020 that will lean heavily into identity politics.

Sanders’ campaign workers claiming a “dangerous” campaign environment in terms of sexual harassment could be a political death sentence for his White House bid in the ‘MeToo’ era.

The Vermont Senator is expected to launch a 2020 campaign anyway.

But he may learn the hard way that those who supported him in 2016 were never really his base.

They backed Sanders because he was the alternative to Hillary Clinton—but in a race where voters have multiple shiny new toys to play with, Sanders campaign may never get off the ground.
