Outrage: A federal grand jury is investigating a state judge in Massachusetts who allegedly violated her oath of office and the law by helping an illegal alien who appeared in her court escape Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.

Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker, who appointed Newton District Judge Shelley Joseph, is calling for her to be suspended from hearing cases temporarily and to be reprimanded if found to have assisted Jose Medina-Perez in eluding ICE agents who were waiting for him outside her courtroom, The Hill reports.

According to reports, Medina-Perez was assisted by court officials who permitted him to escape out a back entrance to the court, which he did by scaling a fence in order to avoid being detained.

Baker said the allegations were “extremely troubling,” and said she should stop hearing cases while the investigation was ongoing.

“Look, judges are not supposed to be in the business of obstructing justice,” Baker told local media.

“I don’t regret nominating her, but as I said, I find this story as it’s currently been presented, extremely troubling,” he said

“As far as I can tell,” he added, “based on the facts as they were presented, she clearly violated the court’s own policies with respect to the way they’re supposed to handle detainers that involve federal immigration enforcement.

“I don’t think she should be hearing court cases in the meantime” he concluded.

The Left obviously views assisting illegal aliens in violation of our immigration laws as some sort of morality play, but the fact is, every person in our country illegally is a criminal by definition, regardless of their intentions.

Here’s hoping Judge Joseph is herself judged for her actions.
