No Wonder Obama Intel Chiefs Panicking - Trump To Declassify "Bucket 5" Russiagate Docs
As Congressional Democrats insist on conducting post-Mueller probes into President Trump and those around him, much of the recent infighting and backpedaling we've seen from former Obama intel chiefs is starting to make sense.
Appearing with Fox News's Sean Hannity Tuesday night, The Hill's John Solomon revealed that according to his sources (and Hannity's as well), President Trump will begin declassifying 'Russiagate' documents in the next 6-7 days.
Among those will be the so-called "Bucket Five" - documents which were originally presented to the Gang of Eight in 2016, which included everything the FBI and DOJ used against Trump campaign aide Carter Page - including the FISA surveillance application and its underlying exculpatory intelligence documents which the FISA court may have never seen.
Trump orders intelligence agencies help Barr with probe into Russia investigation
In November, during an Oval Office sit-down with The Post, the president said he wanted to declassify FISA warrant applications and other documents from Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s probe, predicting that the exposure would show that the FBI, the Justice Department and the Clinton campaign were in cahoots.
He was just waiting for the right time to strike.
He said that time would be if the Democrats decided to go down the “presidential harassment” track.
“It’s much more powerful to do it then,” Trump said back in November, “because if we had done it already, it would already be yesterday’s news.”
War Between President Donald Trump and CIA/FBI
DiGenova says, “This is full-scale war between the Attorney General of the United States and believe it or not, another FBI director who thinks he’s James Comey. Christopher Wray is a disaster. He’s an unmitigated disaster…you are watching the quintessential Washington power battle.
“Here’s the problem for the agencies: The FBI and the CIA, they have one disadvantage. They can leak to the Post and the Times but they do not have subpoena power – and Bill Barr does.
“We are headed toward a gigantic, gigantic fight. The intelligence community, which includes the FBI is in full resistance to disclosing what they did during the presidential campaign but here’s the other problem: they’re very fearful of what the FISA Court has already found; that there was political spying going on, starting in 2012, not ’15 not ’16 – in 2012.”
Trump directs AG Barr to declassify data on what prompted Russiagate probe
By giving Barr the authority to declassify documents, Trump is going over the heads of the intelligence agency chiefs, many of whom have made no secret of their disagreements with the president. Barr began his investigation last month, focusing on the FBI's use of confidential informants as well as its grounds for using FISA to surveil the Trump campaign.
Last week, Trump tweeted that his campaign had been "conclusively" spied upon, and called for "long jail sentences" for those responsible for this "treason," but did not elaborate further.
Hmm: CIA, DNI Joining Probe Of FBI’s Russiagate Activities
The entry of the CIA and ODNI into the investigation now certainly should pique a little curiosity. Are they being brought into the probe strictly as consultants on proper counterespionage tactics and strategy, or did the CIA have something to do with developing the intel for the initial suspicions of Russian penetration into the Trump campaign? Or perhaps some experience in dealing with Christopher Steele that might be relevant to discerning the FBI’s motivations? The FISA warrant on Carter Page is still the crux of the issue, and anything related to Steele’s reliability and any CIA communications on that regard might be critical to whether the FBI misled the court to get that warrant.
Self-Preservation Is The Only Reason Democrats Could Object To Declassifying Spygate Docs
Based on the troubling information that has been disclosed to date, the pending inspector general report, the ongoing U.S. attorney’s investigation, Barr’s investigations, and the utter failure of the Mueller report to establish collusion or obstruction, Schiff and other Democrats are understandably nervous about what the American public will learn once the declassified material is released. Therefore, from a political standpoint, Democrats know that the release of this information could create big problems for Democrats come 2020. This is especially true among moderates and independents, who are not hard core “anti-Trumpers.”
