04, while crater glow and sulfur dioxide emissions have been observed recently.

Mayon recorded at least 25 tremors of short duration and six volcanic quakes Thursday. The tremors could be associated with phreatic activities or rockfalls following the collapse of lava fragments.

Laguerta told The Manila Times that the restiveness has intensified as indicated by its crater glow becoming more visible lately. This means that magma build up is gradually rising towards the surface.

"Mayon volcano’s abnormality is acting up again because we noticed several volcanic quakes and intense crater glow but we’re facing difficulty in monitoring its activity as some important equipment were lost to thieves. Even our telephone lines are not functioning because the connecting wires were stolen," he complained.

Laguerta said that his office is pulling out some gadgets, which were temporarily installed in Mt. Bulusan, to put up on the slopes of Mount Mayon for effective monitoring.
