Magnitude 5.4 Quake, Aftershocks Shake California-Mexico Border
were centered south of the border, about 26 miles southeast of Calexico, at a depth of 4 miles.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries in Calexico or in the adjoining Mexican border town of Mexicali, said Sgt. Gonzalo Gerardo of the Calexico Police Department.
"It was a jolt. It rocked for a while," Gerardo said.
The main shock was followed by a series of smaller quakes, including a magnitude-3.4 shaker about a half-hour later and a magnitude-3.1 shortly before 3 a.m.
