I've got a wonderful feeling, Everything's right with today. >> (After 4th verse repeat last line) ***** 2. Oh the clouds are like white tufts of cotton, Oh the clouds are like white tufts of cotton, The hills are all waving with grass like the sea, And bright prairie flowers are buzzing with bees-- ***** 3. 1-17-21 Sisters of Peace On January 17, 2021 The need to fight, to oppose, is older than red rock hills rising from the desert landscape. Springs of violence swell from a righteous vein to spread upon the dry ground soaking evening’s quiet. A crescent moon softens, the dipper points to north star but trouble’s impulse continues. Across the stony ground and abroad the night sky comes the inspiration to lay down arms, to let the calm of ancient light bring healing to our troubled thoughts. Over and again we choose our nourishment, the paths we take on the fields of Cain.text/html1970-01-01T00:00:00+01:00http://www.fourwinds10.netOctober’s Bright Blue Weather”

10-12-20 Today, when the leaves on the tree outside my window are bright yellow — when the sky is clear blue, the air crisp, and the light almost tangibly bright — this poem sings through the soul. It is worth remembering, I think. I hope you will remember it. --by Jane Beal “October’s Bright Blue Weather” o SUNS and skies and clouds of June, And flowers of June together, Ye cannot rival for one hour October’s bright blue weather; When loud the bumble-bee makes haste, Belated, thriftless vagrant, And Golden-Rod is dying fast, And lanes with grapes are fragrant; When Gentians roll their fringes tight To save them for the morning, And chestnuts fall from satin burrs Without a sound of warning; When on the ground red apples lie In piles like jewels shining, And redder still on old stone walls Are leaves of woodbine twining; When all the lovely wayside things Their white-winged seeds are sowing, And in the fields, still green and fair, Late aftermaths are growing; When springs run low, and on the brooks, In idle golden freighting, Bright leaves sink noiseless in the hush Of woods, for winter waiting; When comrades seek sweet country haunts, By twos and twos together, And count like misers, hour by hour, October’s bright blue weather. O suns and skies and flowers of June, Count all your boasts together, Love loveth best of all the year October’s bright blue weather.text/html1970-01-01T00:00:00+01:00http://www.fourwinds10.netThe Older I Get

4-15-20 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-BemA7z8W0 "The Older I Get" The older I get The more I think You only get a minute, better live while you're in it 'Cause it's gone in a blink And the older I get The truer it is It's the people you love, not the money and stuff That makes you rich And if they found a fountain of youth I wouldn't drink a drop and that's the truth Funny how it feels I'm just getting to my best years yet The older I get The fewer friends I have But you don't need a lot when the ones that you got Have always got your back And the older I get The better I am At knowing when to give And when to just not give a damn And if they found a fountain of youth I wouldn't drink a drop and that's the truth Funny how it feels I'm just getting to my best years yet The older I get And I don't mind all the lines From all the times I've laughed and cried Souvenirs and little signs of the life I've lived The older I get The longer I pray I don't know why, I guess that I Got more to say And the older I get The more thankful I feel For the life I've had, and all the life I'm living still text/html1970-01-01T00:00:00+01:00http://www.fourwinds10.netEverybody must stay home

3-23-20 Sing along https://youtu.be/fm-po_FUmvM Well, they'll scare ya when you're trying to be so good They'll scare ya just a-like they said they would They'll scare ya when you're try to shake a hand Then they'll scare ya when you try to take a stand. But oh god I feel so all alone Since everybody must stay home Well, they'll scare ya when you're hearin’ someone cough They'll scare ya for not usin’ dental floss They'll scare ya ‘cause you’re walkin' through a door They'll scare ya when you're walkin' cross the floor But oh god I feel so all alone Because everybody must stay home They'll scare ya when you're at the breakfast table They'll scare ya when you are young and able They'll scare ya when you're tryin' to make a buck They'll scare ya and then they'll say, "Good luck" Tell ya what, I would not feel so all alone If everybody refused to stay home Well, they'll scare you and say that it's the end Then they'll scare you and then they'll come back again They'll scare you when you're riding in your car They'll scare you if you try drinkin’ in a bar. Yes, but I would not feel so all alone If everybody refused to stay home Well, they'll scare you when you walk all alone They'll scare you when you are walking home They'll scare you and then say you are brave They'll scare you when you are set down in your grave But I would not feel so all alone If everybody refused to stay home Sometimes Jews make it too easy Regards, - Archtext/html1970-01-01T00:00:00+01:00http://www.fourwinds10.netWinter

12-21-19 Winter He commands the realm between Autumn and Spring, exacting penalties and granting reprieves to living things. Conifers sometimes bow down to this governor of snow, as diverse fauna and flora hibernate in the ground below. Presiding over the longest night and the shortest day, Winter heralds new years, as the past fades away. A severe Winter storm allowed nary a lifeform reprieve; mercury below zero caused lakes and streams to freeze. Snow lashed, thunder growled, winds howled and screeched; ones caught outside gasped for breath and could not see.text/html1970-01-01T00:00:00+01:00http://www.fourwinds10.netQuietly the Darkness

9-14-19 Day and night begin to balance in the slow turn to autumn; hints of yellow and gold, fog on the water, sunlight dimming. I go toward the dark ready to release and find again the roots that feed the world unseen. Earth has spread her leaves in the great dance of summer and now the rhythm changes, a lower octave begins to sound. I have shaped and made what I could of clay and light; soon the rains will come filling the rivers, blanketing the mountains, winter to teach once more of origin. Gracefully the leaves will fall, quietly come the darkness.text/html1970-01-01T00:00:00+01:00http://www.fourwinds10.netTo the Horizon

8-19-19 There may be a day more promising than today sometime in the future but why wait? We look to the rising, put sails to the wind though weather be dark and ominous. This craft of ours sturdy yet slight, carries faith as fuel, direction by the stars. Our ropes strain and break yet we mend on and continue. Of course we can be foolish, commanded by a higher regard, but we find currents to guide past shoals, winds to steer into open water. Storm fronts will not deter, nor the lack of safe harbor.text/html1970-01-01T00:00:00+01:00http://www.fourwinds10.netPOEM BY EDWARD MARKHAM

6-2-19 Let the morning come in unveiled glory, let darkness speak and tell of mystery. Let the day be what it will as legions of despair find home in their beliefs while the river of life pours on through deserts, through rock-lined cliffs and featureless prairies, through land without end until pouring through every heart with the force of the eternal. The day, the darkness, despair and the great river, all come on the tide of morning with the unblemished faith of a newborn. http://donhynes.com/blog/?p=3323text/html1970-01-01T00:00:00+01:00http://www.fourwinds10.netSPRING

11-25-18 Somewhere in the night you’re waking, feeling the press of the world while in the arc above you shines the morning star. The sky brightens pale blue as you stir in the long transit back from the dreamtime. You assemble the pieces careworn and fragile of the person you’ve become to navigate this life. Cup of coffee, piece of toast, perhaps now you’re ready to show your face to the world’s hunger. As you break the darkness with your road weary lamps give a thought to the star that guided you in sleep and is with you now, hidden by the dawn yet burning with the knowledge of your original self.text/html1970-01-01T00:00:00+01:00http://www.fourwinds10.netThe Search for Joy

10-14-18 I searched for joy, I did, sometimes in the wrong places and some that held a measure. I searched in the sorrow of what passed and painful births of what was to come. The trees gave to me in their unheard voices, as did the streams and rock strewn hills. I thought I’d find it defeating enemies but even in victory joy escaped. I found it in two daughters and see it still in their shining eyes and in a partner whose blesses our steps into each day.text/html1970-01-01T00:00:00+01:00http://www.fourwinds10.netBearing Point

9-2-18 Amidst the passing cars and rush of doing there is silence, a bearing point to comfort and guide. Look up from your footsteps, beyond the troubled horizon. That soft light in the distance, it is for you. http://donhynes.com/blog/?p=3096text/html1970-01-01T00:00:00+01:00http://www.fourwinds10.netClimb the Hill

7-23-18 Returning to this world of terrain and shape from the timeless I absorb the morning like a hungry traveler, drinking in new light and cool draft. I move arms and legs, listen to a crow busy with the news and put on the old harness to enter the day’s furrow. The soil grows harder each year, long rows bent to the shape of the earth as I walk along behind the plow of memory. Perhaps today I’ll undo the traces, find a fresh path across the meadow to the clear creek running, not sow or reap but cast my lot with the birds, with badger and browsing deer. Perhaps I’ll trick the dark form waiting at the end of this long row, leave the dream to cross the moving water and climb the hill to paradise.text/html1970-01-01T00:00:00+01:00http://www.fourwinds10.netAbsorbed in Silence

7-8-18 The door creaks, the window opens to light and air and what waits. Geese bark, otter slide into the sea and I sit beside the water, aging like stone into rough textured patience. Quick as hummingbird, bothersome as goose I listen now and hear more deeply the unsaid word, the long lost feeling, the call of deep rooted trees in sunlight and darkness. I range like a swift, gather as a bee tasting camas in its purple glow. Absorbed in silence, I hook on to the great chain of being and quietly pass through the mystery.text/html1970-01-01T00:00:00+01:00http://www.fourwinds10.netRiver Story

6-24-18 From a cleft in sharp rock in the high country water emerges from the mountain to shine on lichen and wet a small stream where swifts and marmots drink. Gathering strength and falling, brown rocks glisten, birds gather, fish appear in circling eddies, one stream reaching into another, merging in deep ravines to fall out over stone ledges alive with sunlight and oxygen into the confluence. Now river bears the weight, rolling great stones along the bottom, feeding fish on their many paths home with herons tall and brooding along the banks. Hawks circle above the broad stripe of water, the grasslands alive with rich bottom. Joined and joining, slopes easing until the broad flats of sand and silt where the original people once lived.text/html1970-01-01T00:00:00+01:00http://www.fourwinds10.netHITLER'S POETIC TRIBUTE TO ELDERLY MOTHERS

4-17-17 Gone is the bondage of Winter's grip, Ice and snow transform into rain and dew, Flora and fauna arise to regenerate, The cycle of life begins anew. After the sun's waning light and nature's respite, Though Autumn and Winter bring their own delight, The Vernal Equinox I have waited for, It is Spring that makes my heart soar. The snows and rains have all but ceased, Leaving flowering plants and trees in their wake, Blossoms of white, yellow, pink, magenta, violet, and blue appear, Giving rise to fragrances, transcending anything man can make. Honey bees buzz around blossoms of peach and pear, Signs of new life burst forth everywhere, Birds fly and sing from dawn to starlight, Warm breezes return at the edge of night. A creative spark wells-up within, As it has so many times before, The grandeur of all that I see and hear, Reflects joy and love to my very core.text/html1970-01-01T00:00:00+01:00http://www.fourwinds10.netEaster, 2017

Easter 2017 On April 16, 2017 I slowly wake in winter’s cave, body stiff and sore. In the still grey skies trees bulge with sap, their flowers opening, the earth of another year pressing out into the visible. I drift back to sleep, doze in the soft dark as rivers fall with the joy of ice. The deep blanket is pulled back by the sun and the green land breathes. Song birds are out along the swollen rivers, creatures pad through snowmelt.text/html1970-01-01T00:00:00+01:00http://www.fourwinds10.netLazarus Rising

3-19-17 Awake to the morning in streaming gray clouds the stark outline of trees breathe in the stillness of sentient Earth speaking softly through early light. 1/10/17 The sun begins its journey north and days slowly lengthen yet hope is scarce, a sense of dread weighs upon the people. Words can help but not to heal, something older must be found. Oregon Rain On December 25, 2016 Last night it rained, Oregon rain, so hard the chimney sang and this morning more rain, more dark, Oregon dark. There is a cave in Ireland that birthed Queen Maeve, the darkest cave in all the land but not to match our winter. Big drop rain in the forest, brown bark soaking down through the deep soft soil. Summer trees drink the sun, hoarding heat in their honey pitch but in winter the dark’s drunk deep, absorbed and stored in root and rock, the dark that spring-light calls to rise and return the earth to color. http://donhynes.text/html1970-01-01T00:00:00+01:00http://www.fourwinds10.netTRUTH

July 30k 2016 In morning light with wind on the sea you wouldn’t think of all the earth holds buried, the unremembered dreams and ambitions past. Bones of warriors in ships of steel, tusks of elephants, claws of tigers, all the sharp points of advance dulled by years passing in the great cemetery of earth. Over the graveyard Time walks hearing the cries of the forgotten, scattering seed on the hallowed ground to rise from the dust and ashes and flower with impossible color in the somber gardens of death. http://donhynes.com/blog/?p=2362 text/html1970-01-01T00:00:00+01:00http://www.fourwinds10.netAge of War

July 17, 2016 The earth will rise, seas will part, across the vast land winds of change turn day to night and night to howling dark. Animals take shelter in the highland wood, birds in every brush and thicket. A moment comes silent and serene when clouds open and memory resolves. May 15, 2016 I don’t recognize myself in the mirror, this profile of an old man; not the one I think I am or feel in the bones of my face. He seems to be sinking back into the earth. I love the earth but I’m not going down, not yet. My roots go down; I know them more than ever. I feel the dark earth a living thing, holding the stories of all I know and all I’m made of, stories of the many people come and gone.
