Here Is Why 37 Percent Of U.S. Farmers In The Western Half Of The Country Are Killing Their Own Crops
http://www.fourwinds10.net/siterun_data/environment/agriculture_gardening/news.php?q=1660842133
8-18-22 Food doesn’t just magically show up at the grocery store. If farmers and ranchers do not produce it, we do not eat. I know that I have been writing about the rapidly growing global food crisis a lot lately, but that is because this really is a big deal. All over the globe, agricultural production is going to be below expectations in 2022. As a result, those of us that live in wealthy countries will pay much more for food in 2023, while many of those that live in poor countries will either deeply suffer or die.

How UN’s 2030 Agenda Is Driving Farming Restrictions
http://www.fourwinds10.net/siterun_data/environment/agriculture_gardening/news.php?q=1658858005
7-26-22 The war on food is part of the larger war to conquer the world. It is now patently obvious that it is an intentional attack. UN Technocrats use fear to drive the world to Sustainable Development, aka Technocracy. TN identified the intensification of Technocracy’s war in 2015 and has been documenting it ever since. ⁃ TN Editor The United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for sustainable development informs government policies to restrict farming and transform the food systems in different parts of the world, said Alex Newman, an award-winning international journalist who has covered this issue for over a decade.

Chaos in U.S. rail infrastructure causing emergency FEED SHORTAGES for ranchers in California and other southwest states
http://www.fourwinds10.net/siterun_data/environment/agriculture_gardening/news.php?q=1658170689
7-18-22 Joe Biden has until Sunday, July 17, to appoint a Presidential Emergency Board (PEB) to mediate failed negotiations between the unions and the railroads, otherwise, America’s rail industry will come to a halt this upcoming week. Agriculture companies, including Foster Farms, are starting to get nervous as no more rail service means no more feed for their animals. The Association of American Railroads (AAR) says it expects that Biden will appoint a PEB in the final hour before the deadline. However, Biden is currently in Israel announcing new Palestinian aid and expressing support for a two-state “peace and safety” solution at some point in the future. Rail bottlenecks over the past several months are already impacting feed shipments, either with delays or cancellations.

Resistance Chicks tell Health Ranger how they created a homestead on just one acre of suburban land
http://www.fourwinds10.net/siterun_data/environment/agriculture_gardening/news.php?q=1620923873
5-13-21 Have you ever considered going “off the grid” but felt as though you did not have enough property or acreage to do it? It turns out you really do not need that much land to grow a considerable amount of food – more than you might think, in fact. In the following episode of Brighteon Conversations with Mike Adams, the Ohio-based “Resistance Chicks” tell all about how they created an entire homestead on just one acre of suburban land in the Cincinnati area. What started as just two city girls helping their grandmother weed her garden eventually turned into an “obsession” with living off the land as much as possible. And in today’s world, that decision is proving to be timelier than the sister duo probably imagined. “We just have a passion for growing things,” the Resistance Chicks explain.

California communities learn to become self-sufficient with mini gardens
http://www.fourwinds10.net/siterun_data/environment/agriculture_gardening/news.php?q=1618765790
4-18-21 Cooperation Humboldt, a transition initiative in Humboldt County in California, is providing mini-gardens for free to help communities in the state’s North Coast become self-sufficient and achieve food independence. The organization initially provided free lawn conversions but decided to shift its focus later on. Tamara McFarland, a leader within the cooperation, was concerned that the lawn conversion project failed to reach individuals who would benefit the most from growing their own food. Most of the people applying for lawn conversions were long-term renters and homeowners with a stable income and the privilege of starting a backyard garden. When the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic hit, the organization became even more motivated to move away from its lawn-conversion model, which required a number of volunteers working side-by-side for long stretches of time.

Right Kind of Green: Agroecology. The Agri-Food Conglomerates are Failing to Feed the World
http://www.fourwinds10.net/siterun_data/environment/agriculture_gardening/news.php?q=1570631972
10-9-19 he globalised industrial food system that transnational agri-food conglomerates promote is failing to feed the world. It is responsible for some of the planet’s most pressing political, social and environmental crises. Whether it involves the undermining or destruction of what were once largely self-sufficient agrarian economies in Africa or the devastating impacts of soy cultivation in Argentina, localised, traditional methods of food production have given way to global supply chains dominated by policies which favour agri-food giants, resulting in the destruction of habitat and peasant farmer livelihoods and the imposition of a model of agriculture that subjugates remaining farmers and regions to the needs and profit margins of these companies. Many take as given that profit-driven transnational corporations have a legitimate claim to be custodians of natural assets. There is the premise that water, seeds, land, food, soil, forests and agriculture should be handed over to powerful, corrupt transnational corporations to milk for profit, under the pretence these entities are somehow serving the needs of humanity.

Illinois Farmers Have “Given Up” On Planting
http://www.fourwinds10.net/siterun_data/environment/agriculture_gardening/news.php?q=1561041367
6-18-19 Farmers in Illinois whose land has been thrashed by flooding have given up on planting. Instead of growing food, they decided to throw a party. And who could blame them? The storms that have caused major flooding in Illinois have forced farmers to give up on their crops. Forecasts for even more rain also sent corn futures to a 5-year-high, bringing the food crisis ever closer to reality. Few farmers will even see a benefit from the higher prices because they can’t even get their corn planted in the ground.

My dad is a farmer in Ohio who for the first time in his life is not planting his crops and is taking no planting insurance. The insurance will only be enough to maybe break even. The farmers who have contracts to rent ground still owe the rent to the landowner even if they aren't planting anything unless the landowner agrees to lower the rent for the year. He said most of what has been planted hasn't been planted in optimal ground conditions which will decrease yields and could have trouble maturing and producing a decent crop.

Progress toward restoring the Earth’s natural cycles as the best way to avert a full-blown climate crisis—and solve a multitude of other looming crises in the process—is beautiful beyond words. California's newest government outrage: Forced farming!
http://www.fourwinds10.net/siterun_data/environment/agriculture_gardening/news.php?q=1555166519
4-12-19 Put this one in the category where other California outrages reside: A court fight has erupted because Marin County is demanding that in return for a building permit for a farmhouse, the occupant must promise to farm his land … forever. At least that’s what “perpetuity” usually means. The Pacific Legal Foundation is helping Arron and Arthur Benedetti challenge Marin County’s “new forced-farming mandate that requires landowners to remain personally engaged in commercial agriculture in perpetuity as a condition of granting a building permit.” The brothers’ father, Willie Benedetti, was challenging the policy before he died last fall and bequeathed the two pieces of land that triggered the lawsuit to his sons. “The mandate would have forced Willie to choose between working forever on his farming businesses, Benedetti Farms and Willie Bird Turkeys, or retiring and giving up his property.

Kudos to West Virginia for passing what many are describing as “the best food freedom law in the country”
http://www.fourwinds10.net/siterun_data/environment/agriculture_gardening/news.php?q=1554908732
4-9-19 Throughout most of the country, it’s actually a “crime” to sell farm-fresh food and other homemade edibles to others without the government’s permission – which is typically contingent upon paying hefty fees and wading through lots of bureaucratic red tape. But in West Virginia, those fees and red tape are now a thing of the past. Senate Bill 285, which was passed on March 7, 2019, and is set to take effect 90 days later, amends the Code of West Virginia to allow for the sale of homemade food items that are exempt from large-scale licensure, permitting, inspection, packaging, and labeling laws – just so long as such products bear a simple label explaining that they’re homemade, and that clearly list ingredients, warnings about possible allergens, and contact information for their producers. Following the lead of Wyoming, South Dakota, and Utah, all of which have passed similar food freedom laws, West Virginia decided that highly-restrictive regulations designed for large-scale food producers unfairly penalize and place at a disadvantage home growers, most of whom have minimal resources to purchase “permission” from the government to sell their goods. This new law will now allow them to sell their food either online or in person without licenses or inspections, with no limits on how much food they can legally sell – save for meat-containing items, which are subject to minimal restrictions.

3-7-19 Even as the American farming sector hobbles through its worst debt crisis since the 1980s, socialist airhead Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) is calling for all farming equipment that runs on combustion engines to be outlawed as part of her utopian Green New Deal (GND) proposal. According to the latest figures, the collective debt among American farmers has now reached an astounding $409 billion, up from $385 billion last year. This represents the highest debt level since the agricultural recession, or farm crisis, of the 1980s, reports indicate. “Farm debt has been rising more rapidly over the last five years, increasing by 30% since 2013 – up from $315 billion to $409 billion, according to USDA data, and up from $385 billion in just the last year – to levels seen in the 1980s,” Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue recently told the public. “Relatively firm land values have kept farmer debt-to-asset levels low by historical standards at 13.

It’s a technique that uses living organisms to enrich the soil needed by plants in order to grow and stay healthy. Composting is a healthy and inexpensive way to help the environment as well as cut down on the need for inorganic fertilizers and some types of pesticides. It’s also something that both adults and children can do. To get the best out of composting, it’s necessary to understand how it’s done and what is needed to make it happen.

Improving food nutrition and security, soil health: The U.N. encourages modified farming systems
http://www.fourwinds10.net/siterun_data/environment/agriculture_gardening/news.php?q=1538493968
10-1-187 Global food production has been a significant issue for years. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), in its “The future of food and agriculture – Trends and challenges” report for 2018, lists the challenges that face modern agriculture. One of the challenges presented is the need to make food systems “more efficient, inclusive, and resilient” in order to cope with growing demand of the population. With this growth, low-income countries play catch-up, often using their farmland to meet food preferences of the global market, leaving them with little to no domestic food source and with products that are at times higher than what they can afford. Additionally, the FAO report also pointed to our current practices as a challenge for agriculture.

There’s Finally A Campaign For A Total Ban On Factory Farms
http://www.fourwinds10.net/siterun_data/environment/agriculture_gardening/news.php?q=1526570462
5-15-18 Call for First Ever Ban on Factory Farming in New National Campaign – and you can join too! Listen to Article DES MOINES, IA – A group of farmers, advocates and community leaders gathered in Iowa yesterday to announce the launch of a national campaign to ban factory farming. Factory farming facilitates an unjust, corporate-driven food system that results in unethical, unsafe and polluting food production practices. The call for a ban on factory farming is a decisive step necessary to protect all Americans from the dangers of unsustainable food animal production. Factory farms exacerbate climate change and contribute to public health crises, release dangerous toxins into the air we breathe and the water we drink, disproportionately affect low-income communities and communities of color, and create dangerous and unhealthy conditions for workers and animals. The rise of factory farms in our nation has transformed rural and economically diverse communities into agribusiness-controlled nightmares.

Gardens against the law?
http://www.fourwinds10.net/siterun_data/environment/agriculture_gardening/news.php?q=1525971384
5-9-18 Florida residents Hermine and Tom are being fined $50 a day simply for growing vegetables in the front yard of their home. Sign now if you agree that Americans should be free to decide where they want to grow food on their property. Like millions of other Americans, we’re gardeners. For 17 years, we’ve put food on our table by growing fruits and vegetables in our garden. But now, a city in Florida is telling us we’re breaking the law.

Sowing the seeds of suicide: Monsanto’s ownership of our food supply is destroying farming
http://www.fourwinds10.net/siterun_data/environment/agriculture_gardening/news.php?q=1524848221
4-26-18 There’s a reason Monsanto is one of the most hated companies in the world, and it goes far beyond the damage its products have done to the environment and human health. Indeed, Monsanto’s control over our food supply is destroying farming itself, and the repercussions for all of us could be devastating. The biotech firm likes to think of itself as a pioneer, and its “contributions” to agriculture certainly are revolutionary – in all the wrong ways. Those who are familiar with their practices would laugh at their claim of “improving farmers’ lives” if it wasn’t so downright offensive. After all, pushing them to suicide isn’t an improvement by anyone’s definition of the word.
