10-28-21 ‘Remember Me’ exhibition at the Rijks Museum, in Amsterdam Remember me when I am gone away, Gone far away into the silent land; —Christina Rossetti, poet, from “Remember” “Remember Me,” a fascinating exhibition at Amsterdam’s Rijks Museum explores how over 100 Renaissance men and women were memorialized in paint. Through the portraits, we can see what our Renaissance cousins once held dear: their hopes, dreams, and achievements. The paintings show how people wanted to be portrayed. They convey love, faith, family, beauty, ambition, authority, and knowledge. 10-2-21 VArt exploration for the young and young at heart Do you start your morning with a steaming cup of coffee? Though coffee smells great, most kids don’t like it. And yet, so many adults do. Is it because grown-ups have more sophisticated palates? Actually, taste buds tend to be more sensitive in youth. You were made to have great taste! But, you knew that already, so let’s move on … to candy bars. Ooey-gooey candy bars are an easy example of how grabbing at something with momentary feel-good power can overshadow good judgment, like the choice to fill your body with a better meal.text/html1970-01-01T00:00:00+01:00http://www.fourwinds10.netAndreas Wannerstedt -AnAmazing Artist

5-2-19 George Washington George Washington High School in Northern California is considering removing two 83-year-old murals from its hallways critics claim are offensive to Native Americans and African-Americans. The artwork “traumatizes students and community members,” according to a working group of the San Francisco Unified School District, the Daily Wire reported. The district convened a “Reflection and Action Working Group” comprised of members of the local Native American community, students, school representatives, district representatives, local artists and historians,” Laura Dudnick, spokeswoman for the district, wrote in an email to the College Fix. A majority of the group voted to recommended that the “Life of Washington” mural “be archived and removed because the mural does not represent SFUSD values,” Dudnick said. One panel of the mural, titled “Mount Vernon,” depicts slavery in the United States and George Washington as a slave owner.text/html1970-01-01T00:00:00+01:00http://www.fourwinds10.net'I AM' by Artist Akiane age 17 years old - Artwork by Age

http://www.fourwinds10.net/siterun_data/entertainment/art/news.php?q=1517588174
2-2-18 One of the most effective techniques psychologists use in conflict resolution is role reversal, which helps people to see the other’s perspective and to empathize with them. Empathy is something that is seriously deficient in our modern world, especially when it comes to the treatment of animals. From factory farming and concentrated animal feeding operations, to big hunting and ivory poaching, to ocean bottom trawling and dolphin slaughters, to the incineration of rainforests, animals in general have a tough lot here on planet earth with all of us humans. Art in our culture often fills the role of devil’s advocate, helping us to see things which may be right in front of our eyes but that we refuse to acknowledge. Artist Barbara Daniels uses her artwork to help us see the truth about our relationship with animals, and her drawings and paintings are insanely captivating.text/html1970-01-01T00:00:00+01:00http://www.fourwinds10.netArthur Wardle’s Amazing Animal Paintings

1116-`7 Arthur Wardle (1860–1949) was an English painter who was well-renowned for his paintings of animals, especially canines. He would paint both wild and domestic animals, and include human figures in both kinds of pieces. He was first featured at the Royal Academy at the young age of 16 with his study on cattle on the Thames River. He would frequently go to the London Zoo in order to study the animals and refine his skills. The animals in his pieces often have a great sense of movement.text/html1970-01-01T00:00:00+01:00http://www.fourwinds10.netCHINA UNVEILS EPIC 1,320 -TON GOD OF WAR STATUE

July 1, 2015 We’re having a hard time deciding whether Michael Grab is an artist or a magician, because he creates stunning structure from finely balanced rocks that seem to defy the law of physics. These seemingly impossible structures require intense concentration and meditative focus. In the video below, Grab spends several minutes nearly frozen, making tiny adjustments until he gets all of the rocks’ centers of gravity just right. “Over the past few years of practicing rock balance, simple curiosity has evolved into therapeutic ritual, ultimately nurturing meditative presence, mental well-being, and artistry of design,” writes Grab in his artist statement. Nov. 24, 2014 "Brain power" takes on a literal meaning when it comes to EEG painting, mind-responsive furniture, and the work of Lisa Park. Park combines EEG scanning with speakers and pools of water to visualize her thoughts and emotions. Last year, she exposed her brain patterns to the world with Eunoia, in which she placed five water-filled metal plates atop speakers designed to respond to her real-time brain data. In that project, Park sorted the data into five emotions—sadness, anger, desire, happiness, and hatred, one per plate.text/html1970-01-01T00:00:00+01:00http://www.fourwinds10.netInsane Nail Gun Skills!!! Feb. 21, 2014 When does body modification go too far? In recent years, the popularity of tattoos and body piercings has soared, but now there are thousands of people around the globe that are taking body modification to ridiculous extremes. Image: Body Modification (YouTube). For example, would you be willing to have your tongue split in two so that you could have a forked tongue? What about getting eyeball tattoos or having titanium horns implanted in your head? To most people, doing such things would be unimaginable, but there is a growing subculture of individuals out there that truly seem to enjoy “pushing the envelope” and seeing what is possible. Some of them want to look like cats, some want to look like vampires, others want to look like aliens and some even want to look like the devil.text/html1970-01-01T00:00:00+01:00http://www.fourwinds10.netCorcoran Gallery of Art and college agrees to takeover by the National Gallery of Art, GWU

Feb. 19, 2013 The Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington’s oldest private art museum, and its venerable college of art and design would cease to exist as an independent institution, and its key components — artwork, historic building and school program — would be taken over by the National Gallery of Art and George Washington University, under a plan announced Wednesday. The university would assume ownership of the landmark Beaux-Arts home of the Corcoran, near the White House, and the College of Art and Design would become part of the university. The National Gallery would take initial responsibility for the Corcoran’s 17,000 pieces of art and, after a period of study, would acquire a large fraction of them. The rest would be donated to museums around the country, with priority given to the District.text/html1970-01-01T00:00:00+01:00http://www.fourwinds10.netMODERN ART WAS CIA 'WEAPON'

Oct. 25, 2012 t's pretty amazing what Dutch illustrator Ramon Bruin can do with just some pencils and paper. In Bruin's 3-D drawings, birds seem to take flight, feathers fall to Earth and monsters' tails poke through the page and into the air. Notably, there are two layers of illusion here: the drawing itself, and the equally challenging step of photographing the drawing in such a way that the 3-D effect is heightened. Otherwise, the magic — for example, Bruin seeming to lift the page to discover a monster underneath — would be lost.text/html1970-01-01T00:00:00+01:00http://www.fourwinds10.netIS THIS MICHELANGELO’S HIDDEN MESSAGE?

Sept. 25, 2012 Pretty much everyone is familiar with the ‘Creation of Adam’, even if they might not know that it is a section of a fresco painted by Michelangelo for the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican. Like the Mona Lisa, the picture is so commonly parodied and depicted on T-shirts and postcards as to have become a piece of kitsch. However, what almost everyone has missed is the hidden message that Micheloangelo inserted: a human brain dissimulated in the figure of God. Although the Creation of Adam was painted around 1511, it is not until 1990 that Frank Lynn Meshberger, a physician in Anderson, Indiana, publicly noted in the Journal of the American Medical Association that the figures and shapes that make up the figure of God also make up an anatomically accurate figure of the human brain.text/html1970-01-01T00:00:00+01:00http://www.fourwinds10.netLondon 2012: the graffiti clampdown is like Versailles versus the sans-culottes
