Homeschoolers beat average on entrance exams

Results indicate 'greater likelihood of success in college'   Homeschoolers, who have scored an average of 37 points higher than all students on standardized tests, now have been shown to get better results on college entrance exams, too. According to the Home School Legal Defense Association, homeschoolers this year scored almost 1.5 points higher than others on the nationwide ACT college entrance exams. Mom, Dad Better Than Certified Teachers

Report says it's 'myth' that 'qualifications' help June 17, 2009   Not only do a long list of studies show that mom and dad can teach their own children as effectively as any "certified" teacher, there are indications that for some subjects, those "qualified" instructors actually deliver a negative impact to the performance of their students, according to a new assessment assembled by the Home School Legal Defense Association. The organization periodically assembles information for its constituency, the hundreds of thousands of families across the United States that teach their own children at home. This new report by Chris Klicka, senior counsel for the HSLDA, is titled, "The Myth of Teacher Qualifica He reported, "Educational research does not indicate any positive correlation between teacher qualifications and student performance. "On June 11, 2009, a report on home education in England by Graham Badman, a former Managing Director of Children, Families and Education in the County of Kent, was accepted in full by the British Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families," according to today's report from the Home School Legal Defense Association.
